Exceptional fully dated example of this Mexico cob recovered from the Vliegenthart shipwreck. The Vliegenthart was a Dutch East Indiaman ship which sank off the coast of Zeeland, Netherlands in 1735 en route to Batavia. The ship sank after striking a sandbank resulting in the death of all 461 people on board. The wreck site was discovered in 1981. Fantastic fully dated example with nice details remaining, especially on the date and reverse cross. Difficult to find this nice.
