Absolutely gorgeous early medal with a pewter color and copper plug to prevent corrosion. Signed by Johann Leonhard Oexlein. This French medal commemorates the American vicroty in the Revolution and is closely related to the iconic Libertas Americana medal. The obverse features “Libertas Americana” and shows King Louis XVI proclaiming American independence. The reverse shows Athena spear and olive branch. The shields of Britain, France, Holland, and Spain are connected by a ribbon symbolizing American freedom. The reverse inscription reads “COMMVNI CONSENSV” (Common Consent).
