This partially printed document is from Philadelphia in the 1790’s. It is a tax document from the Supervisor’s Office signed by George Clymer as Supervisor of revenue for Pennsylvania. Clymer is an American Founding Father, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, signer of the Constitution, and member of the Continental Congress. Clymer is one of only six founders to sign both the Declaration and Constitution.

The document reads “I certify that the duties on one case of Geneva, containing three and a half gallons of the first proof, and marked and numbered as in the margin, have been secured according to law.” This is relating to certification of wine and spirits. Clymers signature can be seen at the bottom left. Printed on water-marked paper with a seal on the left side. Some minor tape repairs.
