Incredibly scarce document from the United States Loan Office and the State of Connecticut. This document is dated April 13, 1793 and payable to Thomas Lloyd. These documents were the result of states working out an agreement to take on a portion of the Revolutionary War debt from the Federal government. This certificate was signed by William Imlay as commissioner, also known as “Imlay Certificates”. Lovely piece of history, “United States Loan Office” can be seen a the top with a beautiful heraldic eagle vignette at left center. Incredibly scarce, serial number 58 of only 150 issued.
