Sold Out

The May 10, 1775 issue was the very first issue of Continental currency. This $1 note features an emblem of a weighted bowl on an acanthus plant. This emblem is encircled by the latin motto “DEPRESSA RESURGIT” (Though crushed it recovers). An interesting motto and very fitting for the times. The reverse features nature print of ragweed and 2 willow leaves. Nice problem free example of the first United States paper dollar. These notes are usually seen in low grades and are scarcer than higher denominations from the issue. A critical piece for and Continental collection.
