Continental Currency Fr#CC-1 May 10, 1775 $1 PMG VF-20 *First Continental Dollar*

$875.00

The May 10, 1775 issue was the very first issue of Continental currency. Printed by Hall and Sellers on course paper. This $1 note features an emblem of a weighted bowl on an acanthus plant. This emblem is encircled by the latin motto “DEPRESSA RESURGIT” (Though crushed it recovers). An interesting motto and very fitting for this note printed as war tensions rose. The reverse features nature print of ragweed and 2 willow leaves. Lovely example of this desirable first United States paper dollar. High eye appeal for the grade and an original look. These notes are usually seen in low grades and are scarcer than higher denominations from the issue. A key note for and Continental collection.
