The November 29, 1775 issue was redeemable for Spanish milled dollars and represented the second Continental issue. Printed by Hall and Sellers. This $1 note features an emblem of a weighted bowl crushing an acanthus plant. The emblem is encircled by the Latin motto “DEPRESSA RESURGIT” (Though crushed it recovers); symbolic verbiage as tensions of the Revolution began to rise. The reverse features nature print of ragweed and two willow leaves. Lovely example of this desirable $1 denomination with bright signatures.
