The May 10, 1775 issue was the very first issue of Continental currency. Printed by Hall and Sellers on course paper. This $2 note features an emblem of grain being threshed by a flail. This emblem is encircled by the Latin motto “TRIBULATIO DITAT” (Affliction improves it). The reverse features bold nature print of raspberry and 2 filbert leaves of different size. Tough $2 denomination which trends higher than larger denominations from this issue. Nice problem free F/VF example of this first issue note with eye appeal well deserving of the gold sticker from GCC.
