The fractional denominations of the February 17, 1776 Continental issue are often referred to as Fugio notes. The sundial rebus can be seen on the front and the linked colonies on the reverse, both of these devices were designed by Benjamin Franklin and prepared by Elisha Gallaudet. Very nice problem free VF example. Additionally, this note was signed by Samuel Hillegas. He was the son of Michael Hillegas, the first treasurer of the United States. Samuel was appointed by his father to sign Continental notes at the time.
