The fractional denominations of the February 17, 1776 Continental issue are often referred to as Fugio notes. These notes precede and share a design with the iconic 1787 colonial copper Fugio cent. The sundial rebus can be seen on the front and the linked colonies on the reverse. Both of these devices were designed by Benjamin Franklin and prepared by Elisha Gallaudet. Lovely XF example with a consolidated stain that is not majorly distracting. Fantastic light paper and bright red ink signature and serial number. Difficult to find in this grade.
