The fractional denominations of the February 17, 1776 Continental issue are often referred to as Fugio notes. These notes precede and share a design with the iconic 1787 colonial copper Fugio cent. The sundial rebus can be seen on the front and the linked colonies on the reverse. Both of these devices were designed by Benjamin Franklin and prepared by Elisha Gallaudet. Superior eye appeal on this VF+ example with choice original paper, bold ink throughout, and overall high eye appeal. Stunning problem free example well deserving of the elusive gold sticker from GCC.
