The front of this $2 note from the May 9, 1776 issue features an emblem of grain being threshed by a flail, encircled by the latin motto “TRIBULATIO DITAT” (affliction improves it). The reverse contains nature print of raspberry and two filbert leavesPrinted by Hall and Sellers on paper containing mica flake and blue thread. A distinctive thread can be seen over the emblem. Attractive example from this popular issue.
