The May 9, 1776 Continental issue shared the same style as November 29, 1775. This $3 note features an emblem of an eagle and heron fighting. This emblem is encircled by the latin motto “EXITUS IN DUBIO EST” (The outcome is in doubt). The reverse features nature print of skeletonized elm and maple fruit. Affordable certified example of a tougher 1776 note. Previously a part of the extensive Dr. O’Shaughnessy Continental Collection.
