Continental Currency Fr#CC-33 May 9, 1776 $3 PMG VF-35 GCC Gold *Exceptional*

$595.00

The May 9, 1776 Continental issue shared the same style as November 29, 1775 and was printed just months before the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Printed by Hall and Sellers on course paper containing mica flake and blue threads. This $3 note features an emblem of an eagle and heron fighting. This emblem is encircled by the Latin motto “EXITUS IN DUBIO EST” (The outcome is in doubt). The reverse features strong nature print of skeletonized elm and maple fruit. Absolutely striking example of this 1776 note with nice paper color and incredibly bold ink, especially on the obverse emblem. Very difficult to find this nice, well deserving of the Gold sticker from GCC.
