The popular July 22, 1776 issue was authorized shortly after Congress adopted the declaration of independence. Additionally, the $1 denomination was eliminated from this series. The notes of this issue are scarce. This $2 note features an emblem of grain being threshed by a flail. This emblem is encircled by the latin motto “TRIBULATIO DITAT” (Affliction improves it). The reverse features nature print of raspberry and 2 filbert leaves of different size. Problem free example of this very scarce Continental with nice signatures. Only 58 examples of this $2 known which rivals the population of 5/20/1777 and 4/11/1778 issues.
