The May 10, 1775 issue was the very first issue of Continental currency. The front of this $8 note has an emblem featuring a harp with 13 strings of different sizes, representing the 13 colonies. The latin motto “MAJORA MINORIBUS CONSONANT” (The large colonies and the small colonies are in harmony) encircles the emblem. The reverse of this note features beautiful nature print of a henebit and two buttercup leaves. Nice mid-grade note. Previously a part of the extensive Dr. O’Shaughnessy Continental Collection.
