Continental Currency Fr#CC-85 September 26, 1778 $50 PMG AU-50

$435.00

The September 26, 1778 issue featured new $50 and $60 denominations. It also marked a time of high inflation in the colonies. $75,000,000 in bills was authorized and the release of these higher denominations provides evidence of this. This $50 note features an emblem of a stepped pyramid of 13 levels a motif representing the unity of the 13 colonies. This emblem is encircled by the Latin motto “PERENNIS” (Everlasting). The reverse features a unique print of arrows. PMG notes corner tip missing, this looks like a contemporary miscut. Beautiful AU example with light paper, appealing ink, and bright signatures.
