It also marked a time of high inflation in the colonies. $75,000,000 in bills was authorized and the release of these higher denominations provides evidence of this. This $50 note features an emblem of a stepped pyramid of 13 levels a motif representing the unity of the 13 colonies. This emblem is encircled by the Latin motto “PERENNIS” (Everlasting).
