Continental Currency Fr#CC-86CT September 26, 1778 $60 PCGS AU-58 PPQ GCC Green *Contemporary Counterfeit*

$995.00

The September 26, 1778 issue featured new $50 and $60 denominations. It also marks high inflation in colonial times due to $75,000,000 in bills authorized and the release of these higher denominations. This $60 note features an emblem of the globe. This emblem is encircled by the Latin motto “DEUS REGNAT EXULTET TERRA” (God reigns, let the earth rejoice) (From Psalm 97). The reverse features a unique print of a bow. Extremely scarce contemporary counterfeit with only 30 graded by PMG. This was a very well done example, likely produced by the British with the mission of sinking the American economy. Gorgeous example with original paper and bright foraged signatures, difficult to distinguish from an original with the exception of a few minor diagnostics. Eye appeal well deserving of the PPQ designation from PCGS and evergreen sticker from GCC. A historically significant note for any Continental collection.
