The January 14, 1779 issue was passed to act as a redemption for notes of the May 20, 1777 and April 11, 1778 issues due to extensive British counterfeiting. This $35 note is water marked “CONFEDERATION” in 2 lines and new boarder cuts for this issue say “UNITED STATES OF NORTH AMERICA”. This note features an emblem of a plow in a field encircled by the latin motto “HINC OPES” (Hence our wealth). The reverse has nature print of 2 willow leaves. Crisp high grade note with strong paper and beautiful nature print.
