Delaware Colonial Note Fr#DE-30 February 28, 1746 20s PCGS 8 *Ben Franklin*
This extremely early 1746 Delaware note served the purpose of funding the loan office. The front of this note features the English Arms and boarders cut by Thomas Leech. The back of this 20 Shilling note features a lion and “To Counterfeit is Death”. Franklin’s name remains bold towards the bottom and parsley nature print is in the center. Interestingly, where Delaware notes from 1753 and later are printed by Franklin and Hall, these 1746 notes were printed by Benjamin Franklin alone. For its age, this example is relatively whole and it is impressive how bold Franklin’s name remains where these notes are usually seen backed.
