Delaware Colonial Note Fr#DE-43 May 1, 1756 15s PMG 8 *Ben Franklin*

$1,250.00

This early 1756 Delaware note served the purpose of funding military expenditures for the colony. The front of this note features the English Arms and boarders cut by Thomas Leech. The backs of this issue were reused from the previous February 28, 1746 issue. The back of this 15 Shilling bill features a horse and “To Counterfeit is Death”. Franklin’s name remains bold at the bottom and sage leaf nature print is in the center. For its age, this example is very whole and it is impressive how bold Franklin’s name remains where these notes are usually seen backed and tattered. Incredibly scarce note with about 7 examples known to exist. This is the first note from the 1756 issue that we have offered. An elite addition for any colonial collector.

Signers: John Clowes, Thomas Clark, William Armstrong
