Delaware Colonial Note Fr#DE-71 May 31, 1760 40s PMG 12 *Ben Franklin 9 Known*

$1,585.00

This scarce and sought after 1760 Delaware issue was printed by Benjamin Franklin and David Hall. Only 4,000 Pounds worth of bills were printed in this issue compared to 27,000 Pounds in 1759. The front features a sideways state arms along with printing in red and black ink. Interestingly, this is the only Delaware colonial that featured red ink. This issue also featured a new set of nature prints on the reverse. The reverse of this bill also features a warning to counterfeiters along with “Printed by B. FRANKLIN” with exceptionally bold legibility. Additionally, this high denomination 40 Shilling bill is very scarce with only 9 examples known to exist. A spectacular addition and elusive 1760 note for someone trying to complete a Franklin set.
