The June 8, 1777 Georgia issue was the first Georgia note to be payable in Continental Currency rather than Spanish milled dollars. The purpose of this issue was to support Continental troops. This fractional note features ornamental borders with an array of different ornaments surrounding the note and denomination at the lower right. These fractional notes likely faced heavy circulation and mostly exist in low grade condition. Incredibly scarce with only 5 known to survive today.
