This note is a part of the “Baltimore Issue”. This issue was passed by the Continental Congress on February 26, 1777 in Baltimore. The Continental Congress met in Baltimore from December 20, 1776 to February 27, 1777 because Philadelphia was occupied by British forces at the time. This $8 bill features an emblem of a 13 string harp with strings of different sizes representing the 13 colonies. The Latin motto “MAJORA MINORIBUS CONSONANT” (The large colonies and the small colonies are in harmony) encircles the emblem. Very nice problem free example that would likely grade 20 or higher in a modern PMG holder.
