Absolutely beautiful document printed on velum. This land grant is addressed to William Adams and grants a parcel of land in Illinois. Adams was likely a soldier that served in the War of 1812. This document bears the signature of President James Monroe at the bottom right of this partially printed document. Monroe was the last Founding Father to serve as president and was responsible for orchestrating the Louisiana Purchase. A scene of a Roman emperor handing a document to a soldier can be seen at the top left. Countersigned by Josiah Meigs as Commissioner of the General Land Office. A COA from John Reznikoff, authenticator from PSA/DNA and JSA is included.
