Maryland Colonial Note Fr#MD-87 December 7, 1775 $2 2/3 *Nice Example*
This issue was passed for the purposes of replacing the July 26, 1775 issue and funding the military. This note was printed by Frederick Green using engraved copper plates for the boarders. The emblem on the reverse is encircled by the latin motto “SUB CLYPEO” (under divine protection). There are only 26 $2 2/3 bills known to exist, making this scarcer than most Maryland notes. Neat odd denomination and double Irvine signature.
Signers: Charles Irvine, Alexander Irvine
