This 5 Pence bill from the June 18, 1776 Massachusetts issue was the third lowest denomination and features a minimalistic typeset design with ornamental borders with various symbols throughout the note. Printed on course paper with a blank back by Benjamin Edes. Notes with denominations less than 6 Shillings were small in size compared to higher denominations. Solid VF example of this scarce and desirable 1776 Massachusetts issue with nice legibility. Extremely scarce with 8,000 originally printed and only 8 known to survive today. These rare notes are usually seen faded and fill the tough Massachusetts spot if trying to complete a 1776 thirteen colony set.
