This 6 Shilling bill from the June 18, 1776 Massachusetts issue features a large size format with 3 border cuts and an engraving of a Minute Man hold a sword and the Magna Charta. Printed on course paper with a printed denominational back by Benjamin Edes. Notes with denominations 6 Shillings and greater (such as this note) are larger in size compared to lower denominations. Incredibly low survivability, of 8,000 originally printed only 12 examples are known to exist today. This is the first large size example I have handled from this issue. Fills the tough Massachusetts spot if trying to complete a 1776 thirteen colony set. Nice details remain for the grade with an incredible mini sword in hand vignette. Previously a part of the legendary Eric P. Newman Collection.
