Massachusetts Colonial Note Fr#MA-232 October 18, 1776 4s PCGS 15 *Paul Revere Codfish*
This note from the October 18, 1776 Massachusetts issue is commonly referred to as a “Codfish” note, due to the codfish on the upper boarder of the front. The backs of these bills, featuring a pine tree were printed by John Gill, and the more ornate front was engraved by Paul Revere. Relatively nice example. This 1776 variety is obviously more desirable than the same form printed in 1778. Historically rich and scarce note; a staple for any colonial collection.
