Massachusetts Colonial Note Fr#MA-233 October 18, 1776 4s6d PMG 25 *Paul Revere*
This note from the October 18, 1776 Massachusetts issue is commonly referred to as a “Codfish” note, due to the codfish on the upper boarder of the front. The backs of these bills, featuring a pine tree were printed by John Gill, and the more ornate front was engraved by Paul Revere. Of the 5,143 bills originally printed, only 14 are known to survive today. Very neat and well done contemporary sew job on this hard to find 1776 Paul Revere note. Incredible detail remains on this 1776 note which is much scarcer than the 1778 series.
