Massachusetts Colonial Note Fr#MA-259 October 16, 1778 9d PMG 12 *Paul Revere Codfish*
This bill is known as a “codfish” note because of the codfish present at the top center of the face. The pillared face of this note was engraved and printed by Paul Revere and the pine tree reverse was printed by Thomas Fleet in Boston. Paul Revere also re-dated the face to 1778, reusing the copper plates from the original October 16, 1776 issue. Despite some problems, very nice detail remains. Very scarce with only 16 examples known to exist.
