Massachusetts Colonial Note Fr#MA-280 May 5, 1780 $3 PMG AU-58 GCC Gold

$595.00

This later issue Massachusetts note was redeemable in Spanish milled dollars by December 31, 1786 with 5% interest. The exchange rate for these bills was $40 in older Continental Currency for every $1. Printed on “UNITED STATES” watermarked paper in red and black ink by Hall and Sellers with a similar style to Continental Currency, especially the emblems on the reverse. Absolutely stunning AU+ example with clean bright paper and bold ink. The paper of this example is uninhibited and features a pen cancel which is exponentially harder to find than its hole cancelled counterpart. Eye appeal well deserving of the gold sticker from GCC.

Signers: Samuel Henshaw, Ebenezer Wales, Peter Boyer (Guaranty)
