Massachusetts Colonial Note Fr#MA-281 May 5, 1780 $4 *Crisp High Grade*
This later issue Massachusetts note was redeemable in Spanish milled dollars by December 31, 1786 with 5% interest. The exchange rate for these bills was $40 in older Continental Currency for every $1. Printed on red and black paper by Hall and Sellers with a similar style to Continental Currency, especially the emblems on the reverse. The paper is watermarked “UNITED STATES”. Incredibly crisp and bold high grade example. Interestingly, there is a large piece of mica at the bottom left corner that is much larger than usual, almost pebble like.
Signers: Samuel Henshaw, Richard Cranch, Peter Boyer (Guaranty)
