Massachusetts Colonial Note Fr#MA-282 May 5, 1780 $5 PMG 64 EPQ
This later issue Massachusetts note was redeemable in Spanish milled dollars by December 31, 1786 with 5% interest. The exchange rate for these bills was $40 in older Continental Currency for every $1. Printed on red and black paper by Hall and Sellers with a similar style to Continental Currency, especially the emblems on the reverse. The paper is watermarked “UNITED STATES”. Striking example with bright paper plus bold ink and signatures. Well deserving of the EPQ designation from PMG. Very difficult to find this nice.
Signers: Thomas Dawes, Richard Cranch, Peter Boyer (Guaranty)
