Massachusetts Colonial Note Fr#MA-284 May 5, 1780 $8 PCGS 64 PPQ *Exceptional*
This later issue Massachusetts note was redeemable in Spanish milled dollars by December 31, 1786 with 5% interest. The exchange rate for these bills was $40 in older Continental Currency for every $1. Printed in red and black ink by Hall and Sellers with a similar style to Continental Currency, especially the emblems on the reverse. The paper is watermarked “UNITED STATES”. Striking example with bright paper plus bold ink and signatures. Well deserving of the PPQ designation from PCGS. Incredibly difficult to find this nice.
Signers: Samuel Henshaw, Richard Cranch, Peter Boyer (Guaranty)
