Massachusetts Colonial Note Fr#MA-285 May 5, 1780 $20 PMG AU-58 EPQ GCC Gold

$295.00

This later issue Massachusetts note was redeemable in Spanish milled dollars by December 31, 1786 with 5% interest. The exchange rate for these bills was $40 in older Continental Currency for every $1. Printed on “UNITED STATES” watermarked paper in red and black ink by Hall and Sellers with a similar style to Continental Currency, especially the emblems on the reverse. Additionally, this bill bears the signature of Loammi Baldwin, a Revolutionary War colonel, politician, and the father of American Civil Engineering. Stunning near uncirculated example with crisp light paper and fantastic color. Well deserving of the elusive gold sticker from GCC.

Signers: Laommi Baldwin, Richard Cranch, Peter Boyer (Guaranty)
