Absolutely gorgeous early 1737 small change Massachusetts note. The elaborate boarders featuring a squirrel and turtle were cut out of wood block by John Bushell with his initials are hidden in the design. This bill was printed by John Draper with a type-set and ornamental back. Of the 30,000 4 Pence bills originally printed, this is the only one known to exist today in a surprisingly high grade. Incredible note and a true museum piece. This note was a part of the revered Ford-Boyd Collection.
