Massachusetts Colonial Note Fr#PA-266 1779 1s PMG VF-30 *Paul Revere Sun*

$1,750.00

The notes of the Massachusetts 1779 issue featured an updated face that was engraved by Paul Revere with a sun with the motto “Rising” beneath. This is a symbol alluding to our nation rising above Britain. The reverse features the pine tree seen in previous codfish issues. Paul Revere printed and engraved the face of this note and the pine tree reverse was printed by Thomas Fleet of Boston. Scarce and highly sought after note printed by an American legend. Very scarce, of the 9,411 originally printed, only 14 are known to exist today. Lovely VF example with fantastic detail throughout. Interestingly, there is a small pine tree vignette printed over the sun on the front. This is the first example like this that I have handled. A must have for any colonial currency collection.
