The April 16, 1764 New Jersey issue was the second series of New Jersey notes issued after the French and Indian War. (Previous issues were used to fund the war effort). These notes were worth their weight equivalent in silver. Printed by James Parker in red and black ink, the 12 Shilling note was the lowest denomination of this issue. Of the only 1,372 12 Shilling notes originally printed, only 6 are known to survive today.
