This early June 22, 1756 issue is known at the “Fourth War Issue” and was passed to replaced worn bills from prior issues. Printed in red and black ink by James Parker in Woodbridge on thick paper containing blue thread. This 6 Pound note was the highest denomination of the series and was uniquely printed with green ink on the reverse. This bill features the state arms and a sun face on the front and nature print on the reverse. High denomination notes from this early issue are incredibly scarce. Only 625 of these 6 Pound bills were originally printed and 8 are known to exist today. Lovely problem free circulated example with honest wear and bold ink remaining on the front. A true rarity.
Signers: Hugh Hartshorne, John Smyth, Joseph Hollinshead
