Comments: “Missing Corner”
This early New Jersey note from 1757 was a part of the Fifth War Issue of bills used to fund military action against the French in the French and Indian War. Printed by James Parker on course paper in red and black ink. The front features state arms and sun face symbols. Uniquely, the reverse of this highest denomination 6 Pound note is printed in green ink. This green printing is specific to this note, I have not seen green ink used on another colonial note. Incredibly scarce with only 500 originally printed and 12 known to survive today. Nice addition for an advanced colonial collection, a true rarity at an affordable price.
Signers: Hugh Hartshorne, Samuel Nevill, Samual Smith
