The April 23, 1761 New Jersey series is known as the 12th War issue. These bills were used to fund the military action of the colonies in the French and Indian War. The front features large state arms and beautiful red borders. Nature print and elaborate borders can be seen on the reverse. Only 25,000 Pounds in bills were printed in this issue and they held legal tender status until 1778. At the time they were worth their weight equivalent in silver. Printed by James Parker on course paper with red and black ink that pops. This scarce 6 Pound bill was the largest denomination of the issue, only 917 originally printed. Solid note for the grade with a particularly bold state arms.
