New Jersey Colonial Note Fr#NJ-167CT April 16, 1764 30s PCGS 8 *Contemporary Counterfeit*
The April 16, 1764 New Jersey issue was the second series of New Jersey notes issued after the French and Indian War. (Previous issues were used to fund the war effort). These notes were worth their weight equivalent in silver. Printed by James Parker in red and black ink. An emblem with a sun can be seen on the front with nature print on the reverse. “To Counterfeit is DEATH” can be seen on the top of the reverse. Only 5,000 originally printed. Additionally, this example is an incredibly scarce contemporary counterfeit. There is only 1 example known in the PMG pop report. With how worn this note is, this proves that it met heavy circulation and fooled many. Historically important piece.
