Comments: “Exceptional Paper Quality”
This 1 Shilling bill from the March 25, 1776 issue was the lowest denomination of the series. Printed on mica flake paper in red and black ink by Isaac Collins in Burlington, NJ. Large bold nature print can be seen on the reverse along with ornamental borders containing various symbols. The front of this note has detailed borders and the state arms. The paper of this note is watermarked “NEW JERSEY”. Incredible bold ink throughout with crisp clean paper. I am shocked that this note did not grade choice uncirculated with no evidence of folds. Exceptional example of this popular 1776 note well deserving of the EPQ designation from PMG and Gold sticker from GCC.
Signers: Robert Smith, Jonathan Deare, John Smyth
