This scarce and early New York issue was printed by William Weyman with a blank back. The New York Arms can be seen on the front with “Tis Death to counterfeit this Bill" below. Previous issues stated “Its Death to counterfeit this Bill”, this issue replaced “Its” with “Tis”. Although there are some contemporary repairs, this note faces up very nicely with bold ink and legibility remaining. This 2 Pound bill was the lowest denomination of the issue. Incredibly scarce with only 10,000 originally printed and 9 known to survive today.
