The February 16, 1771 New York Issue features an ornate top boarder and the arms of New York City, designed by Elisha Gallaudet. This issue fell victim to extensive counterfeiting despite the motto “Tis Death to Counterfeit” below the New York City Arms. Printed by Hugh Gaine on thin paper. Very attractive eye appeal despite repair.
