This bill is a promissory note of the City of New York also known as the “Water Works Issue”. There is a small 3 above the first T indicating that this is the third water works issue. The front features a type set design with red and black ink. The reverse is printed on separate course paper and shows the proposed idea of a steam operated water pump by Christopher Colles. Boarder cuts were engraved by Elisha Gallaudet and printing was done by Hugh Gaine. Only 2,500 originally printed. Nice midgrade example for the price.
