New York Colonial Note Fr#NY-190 March 5, 1776 $2/3 PMG VF-20 GCC Green

$350.00

The factional denominations of the March 5, 1776 New York issue, such as this $2/3 bill had smaller emblems and were printed on thick paper by Samuel Loudon. The front has the state arms and intricately engraved borders. The reverse of this bill features an emblem of an eagle encircled by the Latin motto “FORTIS A FORTE” (Strength comes from strength). Interesting Latin motto on this note printed shortly before the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Lovely example for the grade with clean original paper and strong ink, well deserving of the evergreen sticker from GCC.
