This New York note from the March 1776 issue was printed by Samuel Loudon on thick paper. This issue contains large emblems on the reverse, with fractional denominations having smaller emblems. This $3 bill has a gorgeous emblem of the 10 commandments with a sword. The emblem is encircled by the Latin motto “LEX REGITARMA TUENTUR” (Law rules, weapons protect). Gorgeous AU example with light paper and bright ink and signatures. Much scarcer than the 10 Commandments note from August 1776. Of the 2,350 originally printed, only 12 are known to survive today.
